September 25 – Malabar Hindu Genocide Remembrance Day

105 years ago, thousands were left helpless and fell victim to the brutal slaughter unleashed by a section of attackers driven into a frenzy by religious fanaticism.

This video is dedicated to the memory of those forgotten ancestors who sacrificed their lives solely for remaining steadfast in their Swadharma.

This video recalls the dark chapters of the Malabar Rebellion of 1921 – the forced religious conversions, massacres, destruction of temples, desecration and destruction of idols, and other atrocities perpetrated during that period.

The video also points out the fact that, contrary to what certain vested interests seeking to whitewash the rebellion and its perpetrators propagate, this was neither a freedom struggle nor a peasants’ uprising; it was a brutal genocide.

To those who ask, “Why dig up once again a tragedy that took place a century ago?”

When certain people, trampling upon the tolerance of a people who have endured, forgiven, and moved on, continue to sneer and provoke, there are some things that must be remembered:

1. We remember these events of history not for hatred, vengeance, or religious animosity.
2. We remember them so that future generations may honestly learn about the valiant and inspiring sacrifices made by our ancestors.
3. We remember them to shatter the arguments of those who attempt to distort history and to bring the true history before the world.
4. We remember them to cultivate the awareness and wisdom necessary to ensure that such tragedies are never repeated against any community in the future.
